Built new parks like our New Dog Park
League City was the largest city in Texas without a dog park. Councilman Nick Long worked with the Park Board and League City Dog Park Association to create a plan that would take useless land once used as a sewer plant and repurpose it as a dog park. This park was funded by developers via the Park Dedication Fund and private donations.
Nick and his wife Kari organized a crawfish boil and community gathering to raise money for the dog park. They sold over 500 pounds of crawfish and raised nearly $10,000. This money, along with other money raised by the League City Dog Park Association, went straight into buying the “extras” that truly make the Bark Park at Countryside outstanding.
With no taxpayer money, Nick and the League City Dog Park Association were able to turn a piece of useless land into one of the most used community amenities in League City.
