Improved Spending on Drainage
Councilman Nick Long was the strongest voice for investment in strategic drainage projects. He called for the inclusion of millions of dollars in the long term Capital Improvement Plan to address the millions of dollars in currently unidentified drainage projects throughout League City.
When other councilmen sought to remove Bayridge drainage projects that would help drastically reduce flood insurance rates, Nick demonstrated a financial model that would utilize increased home values and a $3 million Federal grant to help the City pay back the investment over the course of 15 years.
